From the Immediate Past President...
My term as President of the PIA of VA/DC ended at the convention in June, and I want to say "Thank you," to everyone who has supported the PIA this last year during my term as President. It was a rewarding year as I greatly enjoyed the opportunity to serve our industry in this capacity!
I had the chance to meet and work with many very knowledgeable and dedicated people at PIA. The relationships established during this last year are a big benefit of serving on the PIA Board of Directors, and I would encourage everyone to consider getting involved in the PIA. It is well worth the time!
I look forward to supporting our next President – Rich Moore, of the Moore Insurance Agency. Rich, along with our Association Executive, Sheryl Chasse will make a great team. I’m confident PIA is in good hands going forward!

We are delighted to share the highlights from our recent convention at the fantastic Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA. This year's event was more than just a convention; it was a celebration of our community, filled with fun activities, engaging sessions, and memorable experiences for everyone.
Family Activities and Fun The Great Wolf Lodge offered a plethora of family-friendly activities. From the thrilling indoor water park to interactive adventure quests and creative crafts, there was something for everyone. Family karaoke and the ice cream sundae bar were a hit with our younger attendees, featuring an array of Taylor Swift songs and the memorable "Raining Tacos." The family-friendly atmosphere was a standout aspect that many attendees appreciated.
Golf Outing at Kingsmill Our convention kicked off with a fantastic golf outing at Kingsmill. The beautiful course and perfect weather provided the ideal setting for members to network and enjoy some friendly competition. It was a great way to start the event and set a positive tone for the days ahead.
Parametric Flood Class One of the educational highlights was the Parametric Flood class. The session was extremely interesting and informative, providing insights into the future of flood insurance policies. We expect this type of policy to become more prevalent, and the class was a valuable learning opportunity for all attendees.
Trade Fair The Trade Fair was a bustling hub of activity, filled with exciting exhibits showcasing the latest products, services, and technologies in the insurance industry. The energy and enthusiasm were palpable as members explored innovative solutions and forged new connections.

In Memoriam
The news of Callie Stuart's passing saddens us. Callie was an active member of PIA VA/DC for a long time, as was her husband, A.D., who passed away in March of 2024. Both of them demonstrated remarkable support for Special Olympics Virginia, an organization that PIA has long sponsored. Their absence will be greatly felt. Services for Callie will be held August 7th, 3 pm, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Richmond, VA.
